■文法

(1)比較級 「AはBよりも〜」と表現するときは、基本的に、形容詞にerをつける。この形容詞にerが ついた単語を形容詞の比較級という。また、erのついていない普通の形容詞を原級という。 英文では、A＋形容詞の比較級＋than＋Bの形が多い。 Manami is taller than Sukuharu. (まな美はすく春よりも背が高い。) A 形容詞の比較級   B   Bにあたる単語が代名詞の場合、形式ばった英語表現として主格になることがある。 He is taller than she(her). (彼は彼女よりも背が高い。) A 形容詞の比較級   B   比較の文では、同じ単語が出てくる場合が多いので、繰り返しを避けるoneが使われる。 This mountain is higher than that one. (この山はあの山よりも高い。) A 形容詞の比較級   B   much(ずっと)、a little(少し)などでで比較級をさらに修飾することもできる。 He is youngrer than Miki. (彼はミキより若い。) 　 He is much youngrer than Miki. (彼はミキよりずっと若い。)                   He is a little youngrer than Miki.   (彼はミキより少し若い。)                       He is two years youngrer than Miki.   (彼はミキより２歳年下です。)     (2)最上級 「〜の中で最も―」と表現するときは、基本的に、形容詞にestをつける。この形容詞にestが ついた単語を形容詞の最上級という。 英文では、A＋the 形容詞の最上級＋of (in)＋Bの形が多い。 最上級で表現するときは、theがつくことに注意する。 Manami is the tallest of the three. (まな美は３人の中で最も背が高い。) A 形容詞の最上級   B   Takeshi is the tallest in her class. (タケシはクラスの中で最も背が高い。) A 形容詞の最上級   B   ofになるかinになるのかは、後ろの単語なとで決まってくる。 of　 同じ種類のもの(複数) all (すべての中で)       all the students (全生徒の中で)       the three (３つの中で) us all (私たちすべての中で) them all (彼らたちすべての中で) 　 　※allは基本的にtheよりも前に置くが、us、themなどは後ろに置く。   in　 場所や範囲(単数) my class (私のクラスの中で)             my family (私の家族の中で)             Japan (日本の中で)             the world (世界の中で)     (3)形容詞の活用 基本的に、形容詞の比較級、最上級は原級にer、estをつけるが、以下のような変化もある。 r、stのみをつける 原級 比較級 最上級 large (大きい) larger largest nice (よい) nicer nicest wide (広い) wider widest wise (賢い) wiser wisest 最後の文字を重ねてer、estをつける 原級 比較級 最上級 big (大きい) bigger biggest hot (暑い) hotter hottest 　 yをiにかえてer、est 原級 比較級 最上級 busy (忙しい) busier busiest easy (易しい) easier easiest happy (うれしい) happier happiest pretty (かわいい) prettier prettiest 不規則に変化する 原級 比較級 最上級 good (よい) better best bad (悪い) ill (病気で) worse worst many ((数が)多い) much ((量が)多い) more most little (少しの) less least
