　My grandfather and grandmother came my home.
　I went to the amusement park with them.
　My parents didn't go there. They went shopping.

　What happened to you?

We studied some subjects in the morning
and I did our homework in the library after school.

■文法
(1)be動詞の過去形
「〜です」、「いる」という現在形のbe動詞のis、am、areの過去形はis、amがwas、areがwereに
なり、「〜でした」、「いた」という意味となる。
使い方はbe動詞の現在形と同じである。
現在形の肯定文   I am   a student. 　(私は生徒です。)
過去形の肯定文   I was a student. 　(私は生徒でした。)
過去形の否定文   I was not a student. 　(私は生徒ではありませんでした。)

現在形の肯定文   She is   at home. 　(彼女は家にいます。)
過去形の肯定文   She was at home. 　(彼女は家にいました。)
過去形の否定文   She was not at home. 　(彼女は家にいませんでした。)

過去形の疑問文 Was she   at home? 　(彼女は家にいましたか。)
      Yes, she was.
　No, she was not.		 　(はい、そうです。)
　(いいえ、ちがいます。)

現在形の肯定文   You are   a teacher. 　(あなたは教師です。)
過去形の肯定文   You were a teacher. 　(あなたは教師でした。)
過去形の否定文   You were not a teacher. 　(あなたは教師ではありませんでした。)

過去形の疑問文 Were you   a teacher? 　(あなたは教師でしたか。)
      Yes, I was.
　No, I was not.		 　(はい、そうです。)
　(いいえ、ちがいます。)

(2)疑問詞＋be動詞の過去形の疑問文
Where、Whyといった疑問詞と結びついて、be動詞の過去形のさまざまな疑問文をつくることができる。

Where＋be動詞の過去形の疑問文　(どこにいましたか。)
過去形のの肯定文     He was in the library . 　(彼は図書館にいました。)
過去形の疑問文   Was he    in the library ? 　(彼は図書館にいましたか。)
Where＋過去形の疑問文 Where was he   ? 　(彼はどこにいましたか。)

Why＋be動詞の過去形の疑問文　(なぜいましたか。)
過去形のの肯定文     You were in the kitchen . 　(あなたは台所にいました。)
過去形の疑問文   Were you    in the kitchen ? 　(あなたは台所にいましたか。)
Where＋過去形の疑問文 Why were you   in the kitchen ? 　(なぜあなたは台所にいましたか。)
